Going to Guatemala

For almost a year now, a very dear friend of mine has been following the Holy Spirit's call to adopt an orphan. Through many serious of event, calls from God, paths and doorways being opened and closed, my friend's journey is almost at an end. My friend Andrea and her husband Scott were called to adopt a child from Guatemala almost a year ago. They have been obedient to God's will, growing and learning many things about their faith, love, strength for each other and themselves. I have been extremely blessed to be a part of their journey. Seeing the power of God everyday has been amazing. Many people go their whole lives never knowing, understanding or seeing how God works through ordinary people and events. Myself and my family have grown in our own faith by witnessing our friend's lives change. In just a few weeks, on June 25, Andrea will travel to Guatemala to be with her baby. I have been given the wonderful opportunity to join her, with another friend, Rachael. We will stay with her for a week until her husband joins her to make the adoption final. I am very excited. The idea of going is a bit overwhelming. So many emotions, curiosities and even a little fear. I really do not like to fly. But I will be flying with Rachael, so I will probably squeeze her hand off during take off, flight and landing. We leave June 30. So check back, and I will post more once we go and while we are there.
